About our work
The overall aim of the Voluntary Sector Support programme is to
support voluntary and community organisations, charities and
social enterprises that work with children, young people and
families.
The programme has different strands that focus on different
areas of support. Our funding streams are explained below.
1. Department of Health Strategic
Partnership
The main focus of our work as a Strategic Partner is to ensure
that the voices of the children and young people's voluntary
sector, and children and young people themselves, are heard.
We aim to increase and strengthen the link between Government
and the voluntary sector to ensure that the sector is
informed of Government policies and initiatives, and involved
in their conception and delivery.
This project is entering its third year and forms the
basis of our work around policy briefings,
consultations, commissioning training and
policy update events.

2. Local Involvement Networks
(LINks)/HealthWatch
Funded by the Department of Health this three year project aims
to increase children and young people’s involvement in LINks.
The project will run from April 2010 to March 2013.
Over the three years of the project we will:
- carry out a scoping exercise of LINk engagement with children
and young people
- run training events for LINks staff and staff from children and
young people's organisations
- run networking events with LINKs staff and children and young
people's voluntary organisations
- produce good practice case studies of LINks and voluntary
organisations working in partnership to engage children and young
people.
