Tackling
Bullying in the Community
Theme: Well-being
"Bullying happens everywhere – at the park, in school, lessons, on
the way home, on buses – it is everywhere – happens to me every
day..." (male, aged 14, with emotional, behavioural and learning
difficulties) Over recent years, the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA)
has become increasingly aware of how bullying in the wider
community can impact on the well-being of children and young
people. To support local practitioners to get to grips with the new
DCSF Safe from Bullying guidance on tackling bullying in a range of
community settings, ABA is organising a series of one-day
conferences in each of the nine government regions, including this
event in London.

Promoting the
health and well-being of looked after children: Implementing the
new guidance locally
Theme: Well-being
A series of regional
conferences to support delegates in implementing the new statutory
and practice guidance on promoting the health and well-being of
looked after children. These conferences, organised by NCB on
behalf of DCSF and DH, will give delegates an overview of the
guidance, a chance to learn about its implications for their work
and discuss their practical next steps to implementation, and
examples of effective practice. These events are essential for
those with strategic, commissioning and operational responsibility
for looked after children’s health and well-being.
