Partnerships

Three girls

NCB believes effective partnership working within and between statutory, private and voluntary agencies is fundamental to improving the lives of children and young people.

Partnership with children and young people is at the heart of everything we do, as well as working with those who work on their behalf.  This is realised in many ways – by establishing special interest groups, bringing together new partnerships, hosting existing and developing new agencies, providing infrastructure support and sharing core services with other charities.

With nearly 30 fora, council, network and partner programmes operating under our charitable status, we cover issues ranging from play, youth justice to sex and relationship education, and from early years, disability, children in care to children living with HIV.

In addition to the infrastructure support provided for programmes operating under our charitable status, NCB offers our shared services model to external agencies and voluntary organisations working with children, young people and families wishing to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their operations.

We also work in partnership with Children in Scotland and Children in Wales.

NCB partnership working includes:

  • Membership – NCB’s membership opens up dialogue across its multi-agency network of children’s services professionals.
  • Partnership projects or programmes – Working in partnership with other agencies provides the ownership that is essential to influence policy-makers and improve practice.
  • Shared services – NCB provides core services within a shared service context to all staff in participating organisations.
  • Office space – NCB rents office space to other charities working in the Children’s sector.
  • Fora, councils and networks – NCB hosts a range of fora, councils and networks which are either single issue or single client group bodies operating under our charitable status. Each one is also answerable to the wider group of organisations that makes up its specialist audience.
