Membership Forum

The Membership Forum comprises representatives of NCB's members, networks, councils, fora and other partners.

The Forum functions as an advisory body to NCB and to its Board of Trustees.  Its primary focus is to strengthen member engagement with NCB, to provide a link between trustees and the wider membership and to advise the Board on policy development and strategic direction.  Forum members have the right to self-nominate for the 5 Forum-nominated trustee vacancies as they arise. The Forum chooses its own chair, currently Sally Jenkinson, and young co-chair Grace Gurbutt was appointed by Young NCB.  The Forum appoints the chair and two further representatives to NCB's Selection Committee, responsible for trustee selection and for the oversight of all Forum and trustee appointments, co-options and elections.

The Forum meets twice a year, in addition to the AGM.  During 2010, Forum representatives fed into trustee discussions of NCB's public policy priorities for 2010/2011, identifying those with greatest support among Forum members and giving NCB a steer as to what the Forum felt should be prioritised.  The Forum also advised NCB on the likely impact of the October comprehensive spending review on the sector and on children and young people.

Forum representatives agreed to set up a networking site for communication and consultation with our various "constituencies" and this isnow available to use.

If you would like to contact one of us in the meantime, please email us on forumreps@ncb.org.uk.

Here are the Membership Forum's terms of reference, together with the composition of the forum and the representatives' biographies.

Please do contact us, to let us know what your concerns are and to ensure that NCB is kept up to date with what is happening on the ground.
